jiyoh (ジヨウ) は個人作家による手づくりのバッグブランドとして、2013年より京都をベースに活動しています。
各地のイベント出展とオーダーによる受注生産を中心に販売を行い、2018年3月に京都に小さなアトリエショップ、JUTSUBI Design Store を構えました。
国産帆布を主な素材として使用し、デザインから縫製までを一人の作家が手がけ、手間を惜しまずひとつひとつ手作業で制作しています。
帆布といえば、自然素材独特の素朴な風合いが一つの魅力ですが、jiyoh は丈夫で加工のしやすい素材の特徴と豊富な色を活かして、ユニークなオリジナルデザインを形にした、他にはないバッグを生み出してきました。
制作数は限られますが、個人の手による少数生産だからこそできる、オリジナリティと多様性を大事にした物づくりを続けています。
消費のためでなく、創造のため、暮らしを豊かにするための物づくりをしていきたい、というのが私たちの思いです。
We have been creating unique and original bags since 2013 in Kyoto, Japan. Each bag is handcrafted with care and time, using high quality cotton canvas. The distinctive design and rich color combinations make it like no other canvas bags. The designer/founder/creator designs and handcrafts every single bag by himself, with his commitment to craftsmanship and creativity. Our goal is to create something that will become part of life and enrich life - of ourselves and others.
You’ll find us at JUTSUBI DesignStore , our small atelier shop in Kyoto, where we create and sell jiyoh bags. We also accept orders from individual customers on a made-to-order basis, besides occasionally selling at domestic exhibition events, craft fairs and pop-up stores.

日常的に使うものとして実用性に優れ、なおかつ人の心を動かすものを作りたい、
との思いから発想したバッグをデザイン・製作しています。
目指すのは、持つ人を引き立てる、名脇役のようなバッグ。
シンプルでありながら存在感が際立ち、主役を邪魔することなく様々なシーンで活躍する、そんなバッグです。
jiyoh の考えるデザインとは、装飾や造形のことではなく、使う人のことを考えた丁寧な物づくりから生まれるものです。
そしてまた、人の手によって作られたものは、使われることで完成します。
すべてのバッグは、デザイナー自らが手間を惜しまず一点一点手作りで製作しています。
物づくりは、素材や手法ではなく作り手の態度に依拠する、と私たちは考えます。

Our concept is based on the idea that good design can move people. Design is not just about making things look good. It's a process of carefully creating something that would meet the needs of people.
Designing and manufacturing are integrated, and equally important.That's why all jiyoh bags are handcrafted by the designer himself.

jiyoh ＝ 滋養 nourishment
デザインの役割は、おいしい食べ物が身体の滋養となり、また人の暮らしを豊かにすることと似ています。
ブランド名のjiyoh (ジヨウ) は、そんな彩りと栄養のあるものをイメージしてつけました。
ただ消費されるだけでなく、暮らしと共にあり、糧になるようなジヨウバッグを提案します。

流行を追うのではなく、時様を察し、モダンであり続けることを目指します。

The Japanese word "jiyoh" has several meanings, but most commonly means "nourishment" or "nutrition". Just as good food can nourish not only our body but also our mind, good design can enrich our lives. Jiyoh bags are made to bring nourishment to your everyday life, not just to be consumed.
Another meaning of "jiyoh" is "trend or fashion of the time". As fashion accessories, bags reflect contemporary fashion trends. But we don't follow trends; we anticipate them. We follow our own way and fashion our own style to stay modern.
"Jiyoh" can also mean "the next page". You never really know what's going to happen on the next page until you actually get there. We pursue creativity with that feeling of excitement, and always seek to create something new.
帆布生地について
jiyoh のバッグは国産の帆布生地を使用しています。
帆布は撚り合わせた綿糸を平織りにした厚手の生地で、耐久性に優れた素材です。
日常使いに最適な丈夫な生地は、自然素材ならではの生きた風合いが一つの魅力で、使うことで味わいを増し、使う人に馴染んでゆきます。
また、他にはないデザインにこだわるjiyohが帆布を選んだ理由として、加工や他の様々な素材との組み合わせがしやすく、創造性に優れた素材であることが挙げられます。
バッグの表地には帆布本来の素材感を残す、ざっくりとした中厚の8号帆布を使用し、耐久性と軽量化を両立させました。
組み合わせの楽しい、豊富なカラーバリエーションも特徴です。

Material
We use high quality thick cotton canvas called "hanpu", or sailcloth, to make our bags. The finely woven canvas is made with classic shuttle looms, and the weaving requires skill and experience of artisans. Hanpu bags are traditional crafts of Japan born from the practical needs of workmen. Study and heavy-duty, they are great for daily use. The natural fabric will develop unique character and texture over time as you use it. Versatility of the material as well as its quality and durability is important for us because it allows us to be conventional and innovative at the same time.
